The Young and The Heckless
This is a program created by Marlie a high schooler at The New School Atlanta early June 2025. The Young and The Heckless is a program for youth ages 12–18 can learn about real-world opportunities for their art. This program is to be led by a student program director and sustained through a youth internship with The New School.
Right now, youths can participate in workshops in July where they will learn how to create, brand, and sell their artwork while gaining skills in business, public speaking, and collaboration. The workshops will be extended into an art vending collective where teens will dive further into entrepreneurship opportunities through Pop-up markets and Lake Claire Arts & Crafts Festival, and youth will have the opportunity to showcase and sell their work to the community. If interested in joining the collective, go to this Art Vending Collective Google Form.
Youth Art Entrepreneurship Project
Youths will learn how to price, brand, and market their artwork, create simple business plans, and sell their products at a real community event. They’ll gain hands-on experience in budgeting, customer service, and running a shared vendor booth, building real entrepreneurial skills through creativity.
We have 2 workshops in July on the 12th OR 19th, 2 to 6 pm (Same workshop; 2 different dates).
This Youth Art Entrepreneurship workshop will teach youth ages 12–18 how to turn their creative talents into real-world business skills. You will learn how to produce, price, and market your own art products. We will have guest speakers and some activities. They'll explore topics like budgeting, branding, customer service, marketing online, point of sales, goal-setting and so forth. The goal is to help youth see their creativity as valuable, build confidence, and develop real-life business skills. The workshop will also be free but limited to 20 spots.
