The Young and The Heckless
This program was created by Marlie Petite, a former high school student at The New School Atlanta, in early June 2025. The Young and the Heckless is a program for youth ages 9–18 to experience real-world opportunities for their art. This program is to be led by a student program director.
Meet our Student Program Director:
Felicity, 13 years old, is an avid crocheter. She specializes in creating crocheted dragons of all shapes and sizes. She joined the Art Vending Collective in 2025. Being a member of the collective has given Felicity a wonderful opportunity to support and be supported by other young artists. She has also loved bringing her items to craft markets and seeing people’s excitement in her work. Felicity will continue to help the art collective to be a place where artists can come and meet new people and have fun creating together!
Art Vending Collective Project
The Art Vending Collective is a group that will act as one vendor in various pop-up markets, fairs, and festivals. Youths will learn how to price, brand, and market their artwork, create simple business plans, and sell their products at a real community event. They’ll gain hands-on experience in budgeting, customer service, and running a shared vendor booth, building real entrepreneurial skills through creativity.
.The goal is to help young people see their creativity as valuable, build confidence, and develop practical business skills.
